Co-founder of Woolah, an eco-conscious tea start-up

Upamanyu Borkakoty is the Co-founder of Woolah, an eco-conscious tea start-up, based out of a small town called Sivasagar
in Assam, which he co-founded with his childhood friend Anshuman Bharali. Woolah essentially means happiness in Assamese and it aims to build a happy + responsible tea brand fuelled by
innovation at the core.
His vision was to re-imagine better & safer ways of brewing teas which helped create products that are super healthy, hassle-free to brew, tastes amazing and are great for the planet; just the way it should be.

Woolah’s first innovation TRUEDIPS (patent-pending) is World’s First Bagless and only sustainable tea dip, which delivers the most exotic taste nature has to offer.
TRUEDIPS was developed to combat 3 main problems;
1. Teabags contain plastic which does not get dissolved in hot water and releases more than 11.6 billion microplastics. This means a week’s consumption may result in consuming a credit card size of plastic. TRUEDIPS helps in removing carcinogens from human’s most loved beverage.
2. TRUEDIPS provides a wholesome tea experience, in terms of taste, nutrition and refreshment, unlike
teabags which contain tea dust and it has always been a compromise for the sake of convenience.
3. Helps remove plastic footprints from the environment. TRUEDIPS is 100% compostable and is a great plant manure; till date, it has been able to save over a million plastic teabags from reaching either a landfill or the ocean.
